AUQA Audit Visit 2-5 June 2003
The Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) conducted its first Audit Visit to The University of Queensland from 2-5 June 2003.
The Audit Visit involved interviews with more than 300 staff and other stakeholders, including the Chancellor and other external Senators, the Vice-Chancellor and the Executive, members of key committees, executive deans, heads of schools, heads of academic and student service units, researchers and teachers, students and representatives of professional, employer and community groups.
The Audit Visit Program was developed by AUQA following consultations with the University.
Audit Panel
The five-member Audit Panel comprised:
- Professor Adrian Lee, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), University of New South Wales, Sydney (Panel Chair)
- Professor Emeritus Mairéad Browne, University of Technology, Sydney
- Professor Emeritus John Gavin, Executive Director, NZ Cancer Control Trust, Auckland, New Zealand
- Professor Colin MacLeod, Department of Psychology, University of Western Australia
- Dr David Woodhouse, Executive Director, AUQA
Observer on UQ Audit
The University agreed to a request from AUQA that Ms Margaret Pearce, Department of Education, Science and Training, be an observer of the UQ AUQA Audit.
Purpose
The Audit Team evaluated the extent to which the University's quality assurance processes and outcomes support its strategic objectives. The Audit was conducted against a Performance Portfolio developed by the University after conducting a self review. The self-review revealed strengths and deficiencies in QA processes, and led to identification of planned improvements and action plans.
