The University's annual strategic planning process is a key element of UQ's approach to quality assurance. The University is committed to an annual, rolling strategic planning framework that incorporates a hierarchy of planning outcomes. The UQ Strategic Plan provides the overall direction to these planning outcomes.
The University's planning process has been conceptualised around the following three themes, consistent with the UQ mission defined in the Strategic Plan 2009-2013.
- the UQ learning environment;
- the UQ discovery environment; and
- engagement with state, national and international communities.
UQ's Strategic Plan is underpinned by an operational agenda, a series of portfolio plans, and enabling operational plans. The Strategic Plan and each of these supporting plans are reviewed annually.
The annual planning process is coordinated by the Planning and Quality Subcommittee of the University Senior Management Committee (USMC). The Vice-Chancellor's Executive, executive deans, institute directors, associate deans, heads of school, and directors of central services and divisions are all involved in the planning process. The process provides for input from the Senior Executive, the Senate and the State Minister of Education.
