About Protocol

Protocol is the art of ensuring that official occasions are planned and conducted in accordance with correct procedures that are formally, socially and culturally accepted and expected by all parties involved.
The UQ Protocol Team's purpose is to protect and enhance the standing of the University as a world-class institution in key sectors. The team provides professional protocol support and advice to the Vice-Chancellor and University staff on the planning and management of key University events and visits by dignitaries.
Key areas of responsibility for the team include:
- Organising events and visits attended by Regal, Vice-Regal, Federal and State Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps and foreign government dignitaries, Presidents of other universities and other high profile VIP's
- Managing functions and events such as campus, building and centre openings, graduations, honorary and other award ceremonies
- Managing public events associated with Diversity Week, Research Week and Teaching and Learning Week
- Managing high profile events as directed by the Vice-Chancellor
- Providing advice on community relations activities
