About us
Welcome to the web page of the
International Primary Palliative Care Research Group.
The group
comprises general practitioners, family practitioners, and researchers from a
range of disciplines including social sciences and oncology from several
countries.
The aim of the group is to provide collegiate support to like-minded researchers. This involves advocating for improved recognition of the role of primary care in the delivery of palliative care. The group also aims to encourage primary palliative care researchers to present their work and to explore the possibilities of international collaboration. Finally, the group recognised the huge need for palliative care in developing countries and hope to assist local practitioners in these areas to develop sustainable and effective services.
The group first met in Quebec city, Canada, in October 2005.
This site provides links to information about individual primary palliative care researchers and an anthology of their publications. Additionally, we are hoping to generate a range of research topics that address issues in palliative care that are of international importance. To this end, we attempt to meet annually.
The 2012 annual meeting of the International Primary Palliative Care Research
Group will be held in Montreal on the 8th October 2012, in conjunction with the
19th International Congress on Palliative Care- the world's largest and
longest running palliative care conference.
Watch for coming details on the program for the day. In the mean time please
consider submitting an abstract for the conference proper. Abstracts
submissions close on 31 January 2012 for oral presentations and workshops, and 31
