Lisa, a researcher in zoology, is going on a field trip to Fraser Island to gather data on the habitat of tree frogs. She plans to take a departmental laptop which can connect to the internet using her mobile phone.
Problem
Lisa needs to analyse and send the data to her supervisor. She would be unable to telnet to her UQ email account to send and receive emails, and since she would be using a departmental laptop, she would have no access to her Microsoft Excel analysis software.
Solution
my.UQ will give Lisa single sign on to myMail to retrieve and send emails. She can also use Microsoft Excel within myApps to input and analyse field data, later saving the file in her personal document storage space at UQ.
