 Traffic Areas

Traffic and Parking Control Areas are put in place by the State Government and are managed by local authorities to ensure local residents have access to parking, and that their visitors have access to short-term parking in busy areas. Parking is regulated in signed traffic and parking control areas throughout Brisbane, and specific (and maybe different) parking restrictions apply. It is particularly important to be aware of the parking conditions in areas which are adjacent to various University sites, notably St Lucia and Dutton Park (adjacent to the eastern end of the Eleanor Schonell Bridge). Specific information about the different conditions may be found at the Brisbane City Council Traffic Areas website.

The University of Queensland Traffic Area indicates a regulated parking area that covers University campuses and sites at St Lucia, UQ Ipswich, UQ Gatton, Pinjarra Hills, the Indooroopilly Mine, Herston, and Turbot Street in the Brisbane Central Business District. Parking restrictions are defined by signs at the entry to the different parking zones. Please refer to the Parking at UQ home page for site maps that indicate the general parking zones.
