In recent years there have been a number of accidents involving pedestrians, cyclists, and motor vehicles that have resulted in serious injury and death. The consequent review of safety issues produced a recommendation to lower the speed limit on campus. Accordingly, the general speed limit on all University sites is 30 kph. 

At pedestrian crossings the limit is 15 kph.

In all carparks the limit is 10 kph.

The only exception to this regulation is the outer ring road at UQ Gatton, where a 50 kph limit applies.
