Vice-Chancellor's Declaration of Parking Areas
I set apart, subject to the following specifications, the areas on the sites of the University at St Lucia, Herston, Turbot Street, and Ipswich, represented by the parts of the plans to which this document is attached and signed by me “the plan”, which have been coloured or distinguished as parking places and loading zones for vehicles, provided always that the plan shall be read and construed bearing in mind that an area coloured or distinguished can only be an approximation of the actual area set apart for the purpose, and in any case of doubt, the actual area set apart for the relevant purpose for which it has been set apart shall be ascertained by reference to appropriate signs or markings placed, erected or marked on or near that area of the particular site.
- The restrictions on where permit-holders may park are set out in the table below. The restrictions apply Monday to Friday inclusive, Public Holidays and Special University Holidays excepted.
- Motorcycles may only be parked in areas represented by the colour orange on the plan.
- No vehicle other than a taxi-cab may be parked in any area identified by markings or signs on the sites as an area set aside for taxis.
- No vehicle other than a bus or a coach may be parked in any area identified by markings or signs on the sites as an area set aside for buses and coaches.
- A person shall not park a vehicle in any area represented by an area coloured or distinguished on the plans which is an entrance to a roadway, building, or other means of vehicular access to part of the site.
- A person shall not park a vehicle in any area represented by a coloured or distinguished area on the plans in contravention of any traffic sign or other authorised direction erected, marked, or otherwise notified on or in the vicinity of that area.
- A person shall not park a vehicle on any part of a roadway where the kerb is coloured yellow or adjacent to any rail, line, fence, or post which is coloured yellow unless there is erected, marked, or otherwise notified on or adjacent to a kerb, line, rail, fence, or post a sign permitting the parking of that vehicle or vehicles of a class or description to which that vehicle belongs.
- A person shall not park a vehicle in any area that is not designated by signs or markings as a parking area.
