An easy guide to parking on UQ sites. However, to reduce parking and traffic problems, the University encourages public transport, walking and cycling as alternatives to driving to UQ.
Parking on University sites is administered by UQ Traffic & Parking. Paid parking applies on the St Lucia, School of Medicine (Herston), School of Dentistry (Turbot Street), and UQ Ipswich campuses between the hours of 7:00am and 9:00pm. Regulations apply 24-hours each day, and 365 days each year. The speed limits on campus provide major safety benefits, and are enforced by Queensland Police. The University accepts no liability for damage to vehicles driven or parked on its property – these activities are undertaken at the driver’s/owner’s risk.

The regulations are approved by University Senate to help keep campuses accessible for pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and drivers. They help ensure:
- Better use of limited parking resources
- Improved traffic flows
- Safer conditions for driving and parking
- Passenger safety during setdown and pickup
- Enhanced safety for pedestrians and cyclists
