Originally from Melbourne, Lachlan Rash joined the Alewood group in June 2005 after spending three years in the sunny south of France as part of an INSERM post doctoral fellowship working in the laboratory of Michel Lazdunski. He has worked on the pharmacological activity of spider venoms for 10 years. Lachlan's broad background covers classical in vitro pharmacological techniques, peptide isolation and characterisation and electrophysiology. His expertise is in the field of venom/toxin research focussing on the identification of novel, selective ion channel toxins from spider venoms and he has seven publications in the area.
When not in the lab Lachlan likes to get outside and enjoys most outdoor activities in particular snow boarding, fishing, camping, kayaking and hiking.
