John Morgan
Visiting Professor
Prof Morgan is Director of the Australian Institute of Ethics and the Professions at St John's College, The University of Queensland. He has also been Warden of St John's College, The University of Queensland since 1982. Prof Morgan was educated at Moe High School, Universities of Melbourne, Oxford, and Harvard. He has held positions as: Honorary Reader in Applied Ethics and Professions, Graduate School of Management, The University of Queensland, 1994-99; Academic Fellow, Faculty of Medicine, The University of Queensland, since 1992; Director of the Australian Institute of Ethics and the Professions since 1988; Honorary Professor of Ethics, The University of Queensland, since 2000; President of the Australian Association of Professional and Applied Ethics since 2001; Canon Residentiary of St John's Cathedral since 1984;;member of the Australian health Ethics committee from 2003 Member of Queensland Government Special Committee on Artificial Insemination and In Vitro Fertilisation 1983-84; Member of National Health and Medical Research Council Medical Research Ethics Committee 1988-1991; Member of Ethics Committee Princess Alexandra Hospital 1983-1996 and Wesley Hospital since 1986; Member of The University of Queensland Ethics Committee since 1996, deputy chair from 2003; Examining Chaplain to Archbishop of Brisbane since 1982; Visiting Fellow Magdalene Coll. Cambridge 2000; Fellow Commoner, Peterhouse, Cambridge University since 1987; Senior Tutor St Hilda's College, University of Melbourne 1980-81; Lecturer United Theological Faculty, 1979-81; Ecumenical Chaplain to University of Melbourne 1979-81; Member of Social Responsibilities Commission, Anglican Church 1979-94 Secretary 1986-87; Assistant to the Governor of California 1977-78; Chaplain of Oriel College, Oxford, 1969-76; Teacher Victorian Education Department 1963-67; Member of the Council of Anglican Church Grammar School, East Brisbane, 1989-1997. Prof Morgan has published various articles and books on Christian, medical and business ethics.
