UQ Guide: Australian Undergraduate app now available

UQ has released its first ever fully interactive guide for prospective Australian undergraduate students. One of the first of its kind in Australia, the guide has been developed as an app for iPads and Android tablets and is downloadable for free from the App Store and Google Play.

The UQ Guide: Australian Undergraduate app has built on the existing content of the print version, which is distributed to schools and colleges and at recruitment fairs and open days throughout the year. This new digital experience is rich in video, image galleries and live links, enabling UQ to better reflect what it’s like to be a student on campus, and profiling the facilities, student work and pedigree of its staff and graduates in a much more engaging and interactive way.

You are encouraged to promote the new app via your social media networks, websites and via any other relevant channels. We can supply copy for social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as images and banners.

Download the app for iPad and Android tablets. For more information email publications@uq.edu.au

Research Week materials for the UQ Marcomm network

Discovery at UQ 2015 and the new Research at UQ video were launched during Research Week

Discovery at UQ 2015, an interactive online publication showcases UQ's latest research—with 30 feature stories, videos that highlight our researchers and award winners, web content related to new research, and hyperlinked email addresses, Twitter handles and Facebook profiles that allow readers to interact with researchers instantly.

It also allows readers to share the whole publication or individual stories using a range of social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, using #discoveryatUQ2015.

A 16-page printed booklet, containing summaries of the research stories within the electronic publication, has also been published and is available for distribution. If you need printed copies of Discovery at UQ 2015, please contact OMC on 3346 7886 or email publications@uq.edu.au.

The Research at UQ video is available for members of the marketing and communications network to download and use on websites, social media, digital promotions, presentations, conferences and external meetings. Researchers may also wish to use the video to showcase UQ’s research excellence during overseas visits. The Research at UQ video can be downloaded here.

There is also an ‘industry’ version of the video available, which focuses on UQ’s industry-research partnerships. If you would like a copy of this version, please email omcadmin@uq.edu.au.

Ergo progress report

As most of you would be aware, Ergo are the print and promotional merchandise provider to UQ and have three staff on the St Lucia campus ready to assist you with your next project.

Since the Ergo contract was established in September 2014, they’ve delivered some great results and you’re strongly encouraged to make contact with Sam, Shane or Nick next time you have a print or promo project. Ergo have a very broad range of national and international suppliers that they source pricing from but they do a lot more than just this.

Ergo manage all aspects of the quoting and production process and will communicate with you throughout the entire project. In the last twelve months they’ve delivered savings in excess of 30 per cent for UQ and are now using a much broader base of suppliers which has delivered some genuine innovations.

Greg Smyth, Director Procurement said; “The introduction of Ergo has been a real success story for the University, we now have a single point of contact for all our print and promo needs and their knowledge and extensive supplier base has really added value as well as saved UQ a significant amount of money.”

You can contact the Ergo team by emailing  uqprintmanager@uq.edu.au or call them directly at:

School of Communication and Arts interns and work experience

The School of Communication and Arts has hundreds of journalism and communication students seeking internships and work experience.

Many are lucky enough to find positions like these at major news broadcasters, publishers, and at PR organisations around Australia.

However, we believe there is untapped potential here at UQ to utilise the knowledge, abilities, and enthusiasm of these students to work on School and Faculty projects and help publicise them as needed.

Journalism lecturer Bruce Woolley is the Industry Liaison and Internship Coordinator for the School of Communication and Arts and Sven Fea is the Placements Administrator.

They welcome your enquiries and will do all they can to help to place the right students for your needs.

“A brand is no longer what we tell the consumer it is — it is what consumers tell each other it is.” Scott Cook, co-founder of Intuit.
