Update your UQ Images skills

If you have previously undertaken administrator training for UQ Images and are interested in improving or refreshing your skills, you're invited to express your interest in upcoming training scheduled for November 2013.

We'd also like to encourage you to upload photographs from your area to UQ Images so that they're available to the wider Network. If you need any help with the upload process, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

To express your interest in attending the advanced (refresher) training or for help with using UQ Images, please contact Photo Services

Get connected with social media resources

The Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) and the School of Journalism and Communication held a social media seminar in late August. We hope those from The Network who joined us were able to take away some useful tips. For anyone who couldn’t be there, we have uploaded some resources to the OMC Website.

On the website you will find copies of each of the seminar presentations, which included information on the UQ Social Media Policy, channels managed by OMC and Advancement, and social media management and measurement. There are also other useful social media resources, such as goals and tools for engagement, and social media strategy documents for higher education.

If you have any questions about using social media at UQ to engage students or other stakeholders, please email Sara Ledermann.

Engagement case study: Pharmacy

The Faculty of Health Sciences piloted two new engagement activities at this year's TSXPO and the St Lucia Open Day. The School of Pharmacy activities, "Glam up a Pharmacy lab coat" and one-on-one Q&A sessions, were supported by other actions such as inviting students who approached the Pharmacy stand to Pharmacy Experience Day. Results have been very positive, with an increase of 100 registrations to Pharmacy Experience Day and an additional 370 Pharmacy prospects added to the database. For a full case study of these engagement activities, click here.

Selfies Competition

Innovative competition to promote UQ Art Museum engagement

UQ Art Museum is holding a ‘selfie comp’ and would like your help to promote this initiative through your communication channels including Facebook, e-newsletters, Twitter and Instagram. The competition is a part of the Museum’s engagement strategy to assist in the promotion of The University of Queensland National Artists’ Self-Portrait Prize 2013: remix. post. connect.

The competition is an innovative engagement method that encourages UQ staff and students to get involved with the Self-Portrait Prize. By submitting their ‘selfie’, or self-portrait photograph, entrants have the chance to win an iPad. A selection of the selfies will be promoted on UQ Art Museum’s website and through social media, as well as being projected within the Museum. Entries close on Sunday 6 October, and the winner will be announced following the announcement of the winner of the Self-Portrait Prize at the exhibition opening on Friday 18 October.

The Art Museum appreciates any assistance you can provide in promoting the competition. For more details, click here.
