UQ's 2013 advertising campaign

UQ’s 2013 advertising has commenced and this year we continue the theme of 'Your UQ. Your Advantage'. The brand campaign introduces a range of new stories from across the University that reinforce our strengths. You can explore the different stories on our campaign microsite – youruq.com

The campaign will be promoted through TV, radio, outdoor, online, press and cinema advertising. There will also be exclusive photographs and video content related to the brand stories posted on the UQ Facebook page. Feel free to share these posts across your office, faculty or school specific Facebook pages.

Visit the OMC website to view the summary of the 2013 campaign and to access campaign resources, including screen savers and information on how you can implement the UQ campaign templates. We also welcome any story ideas for future brand campaign material.

Hot desks in OMC

UQ Communications Network staff are reminded of the opportunity to hot desk in OMC to strengthen relationships and mutual understanding of tasks. Any marketing or communications staff member within the University can use one of the two hot desks located on level 7 of the JD story building. Users are encouraged to book these desks and bring their own work. This opportunity gives participants an inside view and experience with OMC as well as the chance to build stronger relationships with OMC staff, without disrupting productivity.

Tips for holding a successful event

OMC’s Protocol Manager, Justine Greig is sharing her top tips for holding a successful event. Clear objectives and measurement tools for evaluation are key, whether you are planning a small lunch function or a larger university event.

  • Before you start – prior to organising anything, it is important that you have a thorough understanding of the event and all its requirements
  • Money matters – events (particularly large ones) can be an expensive exercise with a range of different costs that need to be considered. Always be aware of your budget and design an event that fits within it
  • Ask for help – events take time to plan and coordinate and you will need some help. Create a critical path of tasks that need to be completed and identify areas where you may need support from others
  • Know your audience – a successful event is normally measured on how many people attend. Make sure you have a clear understanding of who you want to attend the event and how you will contact them. Is the event invitation only or an open event that may need some extra marketing?
  • Evaluate – A well-run, professionally managed event should leave a positive lasting impression in the minds of those participating. A post-event evaluation is an important part of event management.

Digital marketing campaign

A recent digital marketing campaign saw great results for the Faculty of Health Sciences.

An e-book ‘UQ’s Ultimate Guide to Health Jobs in Australia’ which features health jobs, salaries, future job openings and more, was released to our database of prospective students and experienced our highest click through rate yet!

The guide is now available on the Careers in Health website, via http://ems.gs/3gZi0kyTEy and at events.
