UQ Images photo library
UQ Images is an online repository of more than 80,000 images that are available by request to UQ staff for the purpose of promoting the University and its activities. This is an excellent resource that is updated regularly by marketing and communications staff across the University.
If you haven’t used UQ Images before, there is a Beginner’s Guide and other information available on the OMC website.
Additionally, OMC is looking at hosting training sessions in the coming months for staff wanting to learn how to use and upload to UQ Images, or for those who would like a refresher. Staff who already know how to upload photos to the database are encouraged to ensure that any pictures they have had taken within their units are uploaded to UQ Images so all staff can share them.
All UQ staff should have access to UQ Images with their UQ username and password, but if you have any questions about access, or about using UQ Images, contact email@example.com.
2017 UQ Guides are on their way
UQ’s Australian Undergraduate Guide 2017 is now available online and in hard copy – the first of a suite of Guides that promote UQ’s programs and lifestyle to students who will start university in 2017.
Our 2017 Guides complement and align closely with Future Students, offering prospective students and their parents a streamlined flow of information about UQ.
The 2017 UQ Guides have been created with extensive input from staff at OMC, OPSSE, Faculties, UQI, UQ College, ASD, Admissions, Student Services, and a range of schools, institutes, departments, and colleges. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed so far to these publications.

UQ is now on Snapchat
At the beginning of December, OMC launched the UQ corporate Snapchat account as a new way of engaging current and prospective students. Snapchat is a video messaging application available on iOS and Android devices. Using the application, users can take photos, record videos, and add text and drawings, and send them either privately to specific friends or to a ‘story’, which is public. These sent photographs and videos are known as ‘snaps’.
Recent reports have shown Snapchat is becoming increasingly popular among 13 to 24 year olds. This demographic is a key part of UQ's student population, so it is important that these trends are considered and the opportunity is taken to explore new social media channels when possible.
Since its launch, the UQ Snapchat account has received a positive response with consistent levels of high engagement. To keep the account growing, OMC is keen to work closely with all areas of the University. We are looking to feature a mix of content that brings to life the UQ brand by showcasing campus life, world-class facilities, and the exceptional opportunities available as part of the UQ experience. If your area is able to assist please send your ideas to firstname.lastname@example.org. Keep in mind Snapchat does not allow content to be uploaded at a later date and will not accept content photographed outside of the Snapchat application. Suggestions will need to be something that can be ‘snapped’ in person and posted straight away.
Launch of the UQ SafeZone app
UQ has implemented the SafeZone app across its campuses and sites. SafeZone is a location-based app that connects students and staff directly with the UQ Security team or emergency services during a first-aid or emergency situation on campus.
We encourage you to promote SafeZone using the video and content on the P&F website or by uploding the SafeZone slide available on appspace to digital screens in your area.
