OMC wishes The Network a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 

Contact Summer 2015 now available 

The latest issue of Contact magazine is available to download as a free app for iPad and Android tablets.

The Summer 2015 edition of Contact includes an in-depth feature on the UQ Alumni Awards 2015 recipients, a tribute to the Chancellor, a feature on women in science working towards gender equality, a spotlight on UQ's activities in Germany – and much more.

The Contact app includes the full version of the magazine and offers exclusive content, including videos, photo galleries, additional interviews and book extracts.

Highlights from the magazine, the donor honour roll, links to other UQ alumni publications as well as downloadable copies of the current and past issues are available on the Contact website.

If you would like to order copies or boxes of the magazine or promote Contact through your communication channels- or on digital screens in your area, please contact the Corporate Publications team at publications@uq.edu.au.


UQ at Westfield

Recently UQ trialled a unique way to promote study at UQ, by setting up ‘pop-up’ information booths in Westfield shopping centres. Throughout the month of December, we appeared at Carindale, Chermside and Garden City for one week in each location.

At these booths, Student Ambassadors spoke to several prospective students about study and life at UQ as well as promoting the upcoming OP Results Advice Night. The Student Ambassadors also spoke with alumni and fielded enquiries from the general public about UQ initiatives such as the UQ body donor program.

OMC is looking for interesting summer reads

OMC and The Conversation are seeking interesting articles for publication over the summer holidays and for experts willing to comment on current affairs and issues during the holiday period.

Content should be relevant to Christmas and/or summer, but with a different perspective. Examples could include:

  • Christmas waste (food/energy/gifts/packaging)
  • Christmas waists (over-indulging)
  • What does El Niño mean for business?
  • Beating the festive season blues
  • Architecture for a long hot summer

Social media suggestions sought

Do you have a social media skill you’d like to share? Or is there an online issue you’re seeking a solution for?

A group of UQ communications professionals with an interest in social media meets regularly to discuss trends and issues and hear how others are managing their social media strategies.
