Social media conference highlights

A small group of marcomms staff, including Graham Bethune and Caroline Bird from OMC, recently attended the Measuring and Optimising Social Media Marketing in Tertiary Education conference in Melbourne. Speakers included the Chief Digital Officer at Harvard University. Notes and presentations from the conference can be viewed here.

Last week, Cameron Pegg (OMC) spoke at the 2012 CASE Asia-Pacific Advancement Conference in Hong Kong. Cameron presented on the online evolution of alumni magazines. Click here to view the presentation.

     

UQ Open Day - Online Planner update

Preparations for this year's UQ Open Days are well underway. Dates for this year are as follows: Sunday August 5 – UQ St Lucia, Wednesday August 8 – UQ Ipswich, Sunday August 19 – UQ Gatton.

To enhance the 2012 Open Day experience, OMC are in the process of creating a new and improved planner which will be available online and as a mobile app. Design of the application is still in progress. Click here for your first look

As a central point of contact, OMC can distribute information on behalf of the University to internal and external stakeholders. Industry blog

UQ senior marketing lecturer Dr Liz Ferrier runs a blog that tracks current issues and case studies in marketing, media and advertising. The blog content covers various innovative marketing and advertising campaigns, stories and creative content, with the majority of discussion being generated by Liz's tutors and students. The latest topic on the blog is branded designer tents as a form of outdoor advertising. Visit Liz's blog here.
