Key highlights from PRIA Conference
PR Directions 2011 showcased the dynamic and evolving landscape of the media. The 24-hour “Opinion Cycle” has overtaken the 24-hour news cycle. It was also suggested that PR people need to ‘own’ social media; understand and use it, to influence and achieve our business goals. Listening and research into our audiences is more important than ever and online gives great opportunities to do this. As communications professionals, we may need to accept there will almost always be some negative feedback/media around any meaningful change because of the new world of multiple channels.

Continuing Professional Development - new website
Marketing and Communications professionals at UQ may find the new UQ Continuing Professional Development website of help in their work, thanks to The Centre for Innovation in Professional Learning (CIPL), which has drawn together providers of CPD short courses across the University in the one place for the first time.
The University of Queensland has identified the need for continuing professional development in the Australian workforce, launching the new UQ CPD website earlier this month. The site was launched as part of The University's annual Teaching and Learning Week celebrations.
