Discovery at UQ showcases many of UQ's outstanding research activities during the year, and the winners of the 2011 UQ Foundation Research Excellence Awards. It provides a snapshot of amazing scope of research activities across faculties, centres and institutes. Distributed widely to industry, business, the public sector and other universities and research institutions, its launch coincides with UQ’s Research Week, usually held in mid-September each year. It has a print run of 5000.

Established in 1990, UQ Contact (formerly UQ Graduate Contact) is distributed internationally to around 150,000 UQ alumni and community twice a year. The magazine provides an overview of UQ’s learning, discovery and engagement activities, and features regular sections including Keep in Contact, which highlights graduate achievements and career moves. The magazine is complemented by a website and e-newsletter which feature content from the hard copy edition in addition to multimedia extras.

It includes after-hours numbers, where available, to help facilitate the twenty-four hour news cycle. It is distributed to media representatives throughout Queensland as well as being readily accessed through a searchable online database.

These annual guides provide information for prospective students on a range of topics related to learning at UQ including the UQ Advantage, study and recreational options, academic programs and learning support, travel and accommodation advice, financial information, and admission details. They are supplemented by extensive information on the UQ website www.uq.edu.au.

As the University’s official news magazine, UQ News reports on a wide range of UQ activities including teaching and research developments, higher education issues, policies, staff and student events, community services, entertainment and sport.

Established in 1973, UQ News celebrated its 600th edition at the end of 2011. As the University’s official news magazine, UQ News reports on a wide range of UQ activities including teaching and research developments, higher education issues, policies, staff and student events, community services, entertainment and sport. It has a print run of 15,000 with each edition read by approximately 25,000 people.

OMC also produces a companion multimedia product, UQ News TV, started in late 2010 and now consists of weekly, two-minute video packages.
