The Communications team within the Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) oversees the University's media relations and corporate communication strategies, with a priority on presenting the University's strong international standing and reputation in a variety of communication media.

Key areas of responsibility for the Communications team are:

  • Managing the University's media relations;
  • Preparing and distributing key University publications;
  • Media inquiries;
  • Providing advice and support for communication strategy and planning for University units;
  • Ensuring quality control across University communication activities;
  • Providing photographic services and maintaining UQ Images;
  • Liaising with commercial film groups to co-ordinate filming on UQ campuses;
  • Researching, writing and distributing media releases;
  • Advising on corporate public relations and media strategy;
  • Preparing media briefings;
  • Publications, videos and material suitable for the Web for specific corporate projects (hyperlink to ‘major events');
  • Media training courses via UQ's Teaching and Development Institute (TEDI) ;
  • Maintaining UQ Experts — an online and printed listing of University expertise;
  • UQ Mediaclips (Media monitoring): weekday electronic updates of University mentions in the media available to University staff only; and
  • Photo gallery accompanying major news stories/media releases.
