The Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) supports and promotes the strategic objectives of The University of Queensland, ranked among Australia's top two or three universities on most widely-accepted performance measures.
Recent initiatives highlighting the integral role played by OMC include:
- Coordination of the UQ Open Days at our campuses
- Annual production of more than 400 publications, including undergraduate and postgraduate prospectuses and Annual Reports (winners of a gold Australasian Reporting award)
- Collaborative coordination of graduation ceremonies and international graduation celebrations
- Development and coordination of university-wide marketing campaigns to promote UQ and its position as one of Australia's premier teaching and research universities
- Distribution (in 2008) of 724 media releases explaining UQ achievements, including the world’s first cervical cancer vaccine, HyShot scramjet flights, and a string of research grants and teaching awards
- Introduction and development of podcasts, wireless editions and RSS (Really Simple Syndication) headline news feeds
- Annual coordination of weeks that celebrate the achievements of UQ staff and students - UQ Research Week, UQ Diversity Week and UQ Teaching and Learning Week.
- Redevelopment and ongoing management of the UQ News Online, UQ Experts, UQ Photo Services, UQ Survey, UQ Media Clips; UQ Graduate Contact Online and UQ Events websites
- More than 330 websites using the website content management system, developed by OMC
- Regular appearance of www.uq.edu.au among the top-ranked Australian education websites.
