Ionizing radiation is used in a number of different research and teaching areas of the University.  Under radiation control legislation many staff are required to undertake specific training and to obtain licences to allow them to use radioactive substances and radiation apparatus.  The legislation also has requirements for compliance certification of radiation laboratories and radiation producing equipment.

These links to online resources are provided for staff and post-graduate students who need to use radiation sources in their work and study.

For more details or advice contact the University Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) Michael Williamson on 54504.  The RPA serves as the primary source of advice and expertise within the University on radiation related matters.  The RPA provides assistance and training to staff and students with the aim of ensuring compliance with the legislation and the achievement of a high standard of radiation safety.
