The broad objectives of the OH&S Division in pursuing its goal are to:

  4. Identify, monitor and evaluate significant OH&S problems in order to provide advice to senior management and to develop strategies for elimination or minimisation of risks.

  5. Provision of expert advice on OH&S matters to enable, as far as possible, departments and sections to resolve problems with their own resources.

  6. Maintain a comprehensive/current OH&S reference library.

  7. Oversee and audit the performance of departments and sections with respect to OH&S legislation, licensing and national standards in order to ensure compliance.

  9. Provide effective OH&S training programmes for managers, supervisors, new employees and those involved in particular hazard areas.

  10. Manage an accident and injury reporting and investigation system and a management system for workers' compensation and rehabilitation.

Represent the University on OH&S matters in professional forums, on government bodies and to the media in order to ensure presentation of the University's viewpoint on OH&S, to maintain a high level of awareness of current issues and to project a high profile of the University's OH&S standards.

  12. Promote appropriate OH&S content in the curriculum of courses at the University of Queensland in order to meet the community and professional expectations of our graduates.
