-- Call for Panels and Conference Papers --
The organisers of OCIS 2008 call for paper and panel proposals to be submitted by 3 December 2007. Proposals are invited in the area of international studies and associated disciplines. Early career researchers and postgraduate students are especially encouraged to submit proposals, and those wishing to contribute from outside the region are also strongly encouraged
Conference participants wishing to organise their own panel are invited to do so. Panels should comprise no more than four presenters and a chair and should ideally include a combination of senior and junior colleagues from different institutions.
Forms and details for the submission of abstracts and panel proposals are availabel directly below.
Abstract and paper submissions are to be emailed as attachments to ocis@uq.edu.au. Panel conveners should collate all abstracts and email them on behalf of the panel.
-- Conference Publications --
OCIS 2008 will produce two types of publications: (1) online conference proceedings and (2) a special OCIS 2008 issue of the journal Global Change, Peace and Security. Papers presented at the conference are eligible for publication in both mediums, provided they meet the criteria below:
-- Online Proceedings --
All papers submitted by May 12 and accepted through the peer-review process will be published on the OCIS 2008 website prior to the conference. Submissions are voluntary, should be approximately 5000-8000 words in length, and must be consistent with the Author Guidelines of the journal Global Change, Peace and Security available at: www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authors/cparauth.asp.
-- OCIS 2008 Special Issue of Global Change, Peace and Security --
For the first time, OCIS 2008 will be contributing a special issue to Global Change, Peace and Security showcasing the best, cutting-edge research of international relations scholars. We are calling for submission of papers from those who wish their conference paper to be considered for publication in the special issue. We are interested in contemporary, historical, theoretical or empirical pieces, our only criteria are that they will be presented at OCIS 2008 and have not already been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. All submissions need to be 8000 words (maximum length) and consistent with the Author Guidelines of Global Change, Peace and Security (www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authors/cparauth.asp). We strongly encourage academics and students to take this opportunity to be part of an important publication that will capture the character of the conference and state of the discipline in the Asia-Pacific region.
All submissions received by 12 May 2008 will be sent out for peer review. The final decision rests with the editors of the special issue – Dr Melissa Curley, Dr Sara Davies, Dr Richard Devetak and Dr Sebastian Kaempf – and no further correspondence will be entered into. The editors reserve the right not to include submitted papers in the special issue of Global Change, Peace and Security.
-- Special Call for Contributions from Postgraduate Students for the OCIS 2008 Special Issue of Global Change, Peace and Security --
This call is specifically aimed at postgraduate attendees at OCIS 2008 who wish to publish their conference paper in a well-established, high quality journal. At least one paper submitted by a postgraduate attendee will be published in the special issue of Global Change, Peace and Security. Eligibility is restricted to postgraduate students (enrolled in Masters or PhD programs at the time of the Conference) and who will present their papers at OCIS 2008.
The submission deadline is 12 May 2007. All submissions will go out to peer review. As with the general call for submissions, we are interested in students working on contemporary, historical, theoretical or empirical research, our only criteria are that the work has not already been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. All submissions need to be 8000 words (maximum length) and consistent with the Author Guidelines of the journal Global Change, Peace and Security available at: www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authors/cparauth.asp.
The best postgraduate submissions to be considered for inclusion in the special issue will be announced at the OCIS 2008 conference dinner.
