Sensory Representations in Platypus Brain........
with 3 somatotopic "Platypusculi".
Three somatopic representations have been defined, each with the limbs
and tail pointing medially and caudally, while the bill is pointing anteriorly
and laterally in all three.
Blue: caudal field ?PV
Red: S1; note internal stripe-like representation
Brown: ?S2: note reversal about long body axis compared with PV and
S1.
Green: Visual cortex
Orange and Yellow: Auditory cortex. Note that auditory cortex is almost
completey surrounded by somatosensory cortex.
There is a vast overrepresentation of the bill in each "platypusculus".
