In November 2005, a Research Collaboration was established within the NTRC. The purpose of the Research Collaboration is to undertake research relating ultimately to improved outcomes for patients following trauma. The Research Collaboration includes all researchers who agree to collaborate under the auspices of the NTRC on any relevant topic.
Study 1
The first study has been proposed looking at benchmarking trauma care outcomes in the Australasian region. Its primary aim is to calculate contemporary Australian and New Zealand coefficients for TRISS as there are currently no normative data available to allow routine benchmarking of the performance of Australian and New Zealand trauma systems (current benchmarks for probability of death of a defined injury are based on estimations developed 20 years ago in the United States).
