 Agribusiness (PG)

Agribusiness is about delivering food and fibre products to global customers. It is a major part of the Australian economy in terms of the value of production and employment opportunities.

Agribusiness firms are engaged in a wide variety of activities such as

providing world class inputs such as chemicals, fertiliser, machinery and advisory services

state of the art farm businesses

specialist facilitators in the areas of finance, marketing and logistics

food and fibre processors who produce innovative, value-for-money products for consumers

For Australian Agribusiness to remain successful, it needs graduates who are internationally orientated, consumer focused, commercially aware, technically competent and innovative. Does this sound like you?

What is Resource Economics ?

Resource Economics guides our decisions about the use of natural resources to meet the needs of society. It is as much about the economics of conservation as it is about the economics of production. Natural resources and the environment are not separate from the economy. No environmental change or resource use can occur that does not have an economic impact, and virtually every economic activity has environmental impacts or implications for the use of natural resources. Every decision we make about resource use involves a trade off between the interest of those of us alive today and future generations.

How do we make such decisions?
Where do the policies come from?
In a world of ballooning population growth, there are ever-increasing demands on out natural resources.

Resource Economics help us to answer these questions. It helps us to understand the actions of households, firms and government. It also helps us to understand the ways that people in other countries respond to the same issues.
