Queensland Certificate in Agriculture

The Queensland Certificate in Agriculture is unique – a complete educational program which allows for direct entry into the workforce or articulation into higherlevel University or vocational educational systems with credit.
The program is open to anyone wanting a career in the agriculture, horticulture or animal industries. No Overall Position (OP) is required, just five sound level achievements in Year 10 (must include English, Maths, Science). Special entry is
available for mature-aged students.
What will you learn?
The program consists of four applied skills courses and four theory courses including: Applied Animal Production; Animal Studies; Applied Plant Production; Plant Studies; Applied Workplace Heath and Safety; Farm Infrastructure and Equipment; Rural Communication and Rural Business Management.
Skills
Students will learn a variety of hands-on skills including: tractor and machinery operation; cropping practices; animal husbandry practices; rural business management principles and practices; workshop procedures; employment requirements, ethics and expectations; and self-motivation and a positive attitude towards lifelong learning.
Qualifications
Upon successful completion students will receive:
- The University of Queensland - Queensland Certificate in Agriculture.
Students may also receive a Certificate IV (or a Certificate III) in Agriculture (nationally recognised vocational education and training certificate) depending on competencies gained during the program.
Study times
The Queensland Certificate in Agriculture is a full-time program, running from 8am– 5pm, 5 days per week. The program runs for 32 weeks (2 x 16 weeks per semester, with 2 weeks holiday in June/July).

Graduates are guaranteed academic credit towards further studies at Associate Degree level at UQ Gatton.
