The research findings of the Next Generation Learning Spaces project have informed the design and development of several innovative teaching and learning spaces at the University of Queensland.

The first of these spaces is the Collaborative Teaching and Learning Centre (CTLC) in the Sir James Foots building at the St Lucia campus. The CTLC has a range of spaces designed around collaborative group work. The design process was guided by the NGLS Pedagogy-Space-Technology Framework. This framework is essentially a series of questions designed to identify the key requirements for a new learning space in terms of pedagogy, technology, and physical space.

The latest addition to advancing teaching and learning research at the University of Queensland is the Advanced Concept Teaching Space (ACTS). This space is specifically designed to include the latest innovative technology, much of which has not previously been employed in the education sector. This range of interactive technology, along with the space and fixtures design, allows for academics to test and research different pedagogical approaches, including the integration of student-brought technology such as iPods.
