Shirley Oakley is the Executive Director, Library Services at Charles Sturt University. She is responsible for providing client focussed services in support of the University’s learning, teaching and research. Her focus is on providing equivalent services regardless of location or mode of enrolment. Services span 11 campuses in NSW, with  70% of students enrolled in distance education and flexible delivery modes.

Prior to her appointment Shirley was Associate Librarian, Corporate Services at the University of Western Australia from 1994 to 2002. She has held a variety of library positions at UWA, La Trobe and WAIT (now Curtin University).

She is particularly interested in support for flexible learning through physical and online learning commons, integrated services and collaboration spaces to provide equivalent experiences to all cohorts of students.
