Mark Sutherland is currently Associate Director, Information (Corporate Services) at Bond University where his portfolio covers a range of services across the Library and ICT areas. He has 26 years experience in university libraries both in Australia and South Africa. In both countries he has worked on library refurbishment projects and in the mid-90s contributed towards the design of an “electronic classroom” at the University of South Africa – something which became the forerunner of the “learning centre” that became prevalent in universities across the world in the late 90s and early 2000s.
More recently Mark has played a key role in the project to transform the Bond University Art Gallery into a technology rich learning environment known as the Multimedia Learning Centre. He is currently overseeing the integration of technology in the 6-Green star-rated School of Sustainable Development Building at Bond as well as taking a leading role in the project to construct a new 3-storey annex to the Main Library and refurbish the existing Library in two stages. This is the second time Mark will be working with Wilson Architects on a significant project at Bond. He has a keen interest in library and learning environment design and the integration of technology into teaching and learning spaces.
