Congratulations!
A Winner has been drawn from almost 2000 entries following the learning spaces survey in early August. The prize was an Apple iPod Touch donated by the Next Generation Learning Spaces Project.
Professor Deborah Terry (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Teaching & Learning) made the presentation to the winning student, Miss Amy Smith. Miss Smith is enrolled in a dual degree (Science/Arts) and enjoys the atmosphere, support and facilities that the Science Learning Centre has to offer.
Professor Terry is excited about new learning spaces providing a focus for enhancing student/staff engagement and interaction. These spaces range from new high tech rooms for formal learning, areas suited to semi formal learning where groups of students might meet and work together or hold a peer tutoring session or as a social space for students to meet up and exchange ideas on study and life. Such spaces provide students with a focal point that should build their sense of belonging to an academic community thereby enhancing the teaching & learning environment that engages students so that their learning outcomes significantly improve.
Details of the scope and findings of the project can be found on the Findings page (link in top right of current page).
