Pregnant women needed for midwifery studies

Clinical lecturer/midwife for the new Bachelor of Midwifery program offered through UQ Ipswich, Peta Winters-Chang, said it was hoped around 220 pregnant women could take part.
“Students need to establish a midwifery relationship with pregnant women, following their progress from the early stages of pregnancy through to the weeks following birth,” Ms Winters-Chang said.
“There are currently 22 students enrolled in the course, eight at the Ipswich and St Andrew's hospitals, and 14 at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH). As each student has to follow 10 women through their pregnancies, we need to recruit 220 women (80 from the Ipswich and St Andrew's hospitals and 140 from the RBWH).
“The students need to attend antenatal visits, the birth, and see the women postpartum.
“Women take part in relationship on a volunteer basis and do need to consent and sign a form to participate. They can withdraw at any time if they wish."
Please contact Ms Winters-Chang on 0410 601 413 if you are interested in helping the students.
