A group of about 200 high-achieving students from years one to seven will attend day-long program of intellectually stimulating workshops at The University of Queensland’s St Lucia Campus on 13 March.

The Explorama program gives gifted and talented children the chance to challenge their critical thinking, problem-solving skills and creativity.

Kids College Queensland will run 10 workshops, on subjects including science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics, environmental studies, robotics, coding, languages and culture, legal studies, writing, illustration and animation.

Director Jill Green said the program exposed high-achievers from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast to potential academic aspirations.

“The program provides students with an early-stage learning experience in a tertiary institution,” Mrs Green said.

“Explorama tends to focus primarily on the science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics subject areas, because it is where the students’ interest lie.”

She said Explorama had been developed for primary school students showing strong creative, problem-solving and intellectual tendencies.

“If you believe your child has the ability to work at advanced levels and is capable of working in a group of high achieving students, then Explorama is for them,” she said.

Parents and schools can register through the Kids College Queensland website.
