Some public transport services to The University of Queensland’s St Lucia and Herston campuses will be disrupted during the G20 Leaders’ Summit Brisbane from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 November.
There will be major bus disruptions from 7pm Thursday 13 November to Sunday 16 November, including the closure of Busway stations between RCH Herston and Woolloongabba and many CBD bus stops. If you travel on the busway through the city, you should aim to complete this journey before 6pm to avoid disruptions.
Bus routes affected over the long weekend are:
66 – UQ Lakes to RBWH: Not operating
139 – Sunnybank Hills to UQ Lakes: Not operating
169 – Garden City to UQ Lakes: Not operating
411 – UQ to City via Hawken Drive: Travelling to Toowong hub
412 – UQ to City via Toowong: Travelling to Toowong hub
209 – Carindale to UQ Lakes: Will operate as normal
29 – Woolloongabba to UQ Lakes: Not operating
Alternative travel options for the above are:
To travel to the city:
- Catch a CityCat from the UQ St Lucia terminal
- Catch route 411 or 412 from Chancellor's Place to the Toowong transport hub and then transfer to a train to the city.
To travel to Eight Mile Plains:
- Catch route 111 from UQ Lakes station (route diversion in place for G20).
To travel to Sunnybank Hills:
- Catch route 130 or 140 from UQ Lakes station (route diversion in place for G20).
The major transport hubs will be located at:
Boggo Road busway station – with bus shuttles operating every 5-10 minutes to either South Bank or Herschel Street in the CBD via the Captain Cook Bridge.
Fortitude Valley – with a bus shuttle to the CBD via Ann and Turbot Streets.
Woolloongabba – where you will be able to transfer onto route 200 or 204 services that will be diverted over the Story Bridge into the Fortitude Valley hub.
Spring Hill, Upper Edward Street – located within walking distance of the city and Central station.
Toowong – where you can transfer to a train.
West End – located within walking distance of the city (to travel to the city West End residents might prefer to catch a bus to the West End ferry terminal and catch a CityCat to the city).
Other public transport disruptions during G20
- South Brisbane train station will be closed from Monday 10 November to Sunday 16 November, but you can use South Bank station as an alternative.
- Disruptions should be expected on Monday morning on 17 November as services will return back to normal after the summit. Buses will operate as normal following their regular routes, however delays and congestion in and around the city should be expected. Allow extra time for your journey.
