University of Queensland students and alumni representing Australia at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games will return home with three gold, two silver and four bronze medals.

Results:

  • Melanie Schlanger: Gold medal and world record in the women’s 4x100 freestyle relay. Fifth in the women's 50m freestyle final.
  • Tommaso D'orsogna: Gold medal in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay. Bronze medal in the men's 100m freestyle final. Silver medal as part of the men's 4x100m medley relay team. Fifth in the men's 100m butterfly final.
  • Alana Boyd: Gold medal in the women's pole vault.
  • Brenden Hall: Bronze medal in the men’s 100m freestyle S9 final.
  • Maddison Keeney: Silver medal in the individual 1m springboard. Bronze medal in the women's synchronised diving 3m springboard final.
  • Con Foley: Bronze medal in the Rugby Sevens. 
  • Daniel Wilson: Ninth in the men’s triathlon
  • Danielle Prince: Ninth in the individual all-round rhythmic gymnastics final. Fifth in the team all-round rhythmic gymnastics final. Read Danielle Prince's blog to go behind the scenes at the athletes' village. 
  • Catherine Arscott: Equal fifth in the women's 70kg judo final.
  • Nik Bojic: Twelfth in the men's high jump final.
  • Brittany McGowan: Eighth in the 800m semi-final.
  • Matt Boyd: Finished twelfth in the men's pole vault
  • Josh Robinson: Fourth in the javelin final.
  • Caitlin Sargent: Fourth in the women's 4x400m relay final.

Former UQ students known to be competing at the games: Emma Moffatt (Bachelor of Applied Science) – Triathlon, bronze medal in the mixed triathlon team relay. Seventh in the women’s triathlon. Blake Cochrane (Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science) – Swimming (EAD), bronze medal in the men's para-sport 200m individual medley SM8 final.

UQ Bachelor of Physiotherapy student Gabrielle Simpson will travel to Glasgow as a training partner for the Australian netball team.
