The University of Queensland St Lucia Campus is the setting for a paranormal thriller written by past student Kirsti Lines and friend Pierette Kemper.

High school teachers Kirsti and Pierette combined their love of literature and history to write the contemporary paranormal thriller A Degree of Allegiance.

“Our research showed that in today’s paranormal novels, there were very few, well-written novels about warlocks, that blended genres and were set in Australia, let alone Brisbane, and, had Gen-Xer protagonists,” Kirsti said.

Both Lines and Kemper have fond memories of UQ.

“When doing my Economics Degree there, I loved walking through The Great Court early in the mornings, when almost nobody about – it lends one to believe it is all yours and your imagination can run wild.”

Pierette had similar experiences.

“I relished my time studying at the main library where I could people-watch, creating identities and stories about them.

“My brother got married at UQ so it holds a very special place in my heart.”

A Degree Of Allegiance is available on Amazon.com as an e-reader.
