Tuition fees are payable by the following groups of students:
- international students (except international students at UQ on a bilateral exchange agreement);
- domestic students who are not Commonwealth Supported, including:
- most postgraduate coursework students;
- non-award or cross institutional students;
- full-fee paying domestic students who commenced their programs prior to 2009.
Course-based tuition fees
A cost per unit is set for every course (subject) at UQ. The tuition fee for each course is determined by multiplying the cost per unit for the course by the number of units for the course. The cost per unit for each course is indexed, which means tuition fees increase each year.
After a student enrols in a course an invoice will be available in mySI-net with the exact cost. A tuition fee paying student who enrols in a course must pay the tuition fee determined for that course by the due date for the payment of fees and charges.
Note: Tuition fees for some students who commenced study prior to 2006 are program-based, rather than course-based.
Fees calculator
The can be used to select courses and estimate the tuition fees for a given semester.
Indicative fees
For most UQ programs, students can choose from a range of courses to meet program requirements, as set out in the relevant program rules. As a result it is not possible to calculate precisely the total cost of a program, until course selection has been finalised.
Indicative annual fees are listed for each UQ program on the Courses and Programs website.
