The offer process for domestic PhD and MPhil students

Outlined below is the application and offer process for all domestic applicants applying for candidature to the Doctor or Master of Philosophy programs at UQ:

  • Applications, including accompanying documentation, are assessed by the relevant school/institute. Please check in advance with the school/institute about how much time they need to make a decision on your application.
  • If the school/institute supports your application, it is forwarded to and assessed by the UQ Graduate School.
  • If your application is successful, the UQ Graduate School sends you an “Offer of Research Higher Degree Candidature and Scholarship” letter. The decision on your application is usually made within two (2) weeks of your application being received by the UQ Graduate School.
  • After you accept your offer and complete an online induction checklist, you are enrolled in the UQ online student system, mySI-net, effective the date you specify on the induction checklist.
  • Please contact the relevant school/institute for information about the progress of your application within the school/institute, and the UQ Graduate School for information about the progress of your application once it has been sent by the school/institute to the UQ Graduate School.

More details of the candidature process can be found on the Graduate School website.
