 Pre-2008 Commonwealth supported students

To be considered a pre-2008 Commonwealth supported student, you must have been enrolled as a Commonwealth supported student in an award program, which is not yet completed or discontinued, which you commenced prior to 2008.

You are also a pre-2008 student if you belong to one of the following categories:

  • Honours students
If you were admitted to an honours program as a Commonwealth supported student having commenced the related pass degree prior to 2008.

  • Graduate entry students (undergraduate programs)
If you are admitted to a program as a Commonwealth supported student after completing a prerequisite undergraduate program commenced prior to 2008. At UQ this would include:
    • MBBS (Graduate Entry), [program 2046]
    • Bachelor of Education (Graduate Entry), [program 2061]
    • Bachelor of Education (Middle years of Schooling) Graduate Entry [program 2217] and
    • Bachelor of Social Work (Graduate Entry) [program 2013].

  • Transferring to another program
Pre-2008 students transferring to another program at the same level without completing their original program are still eligible for the pre-2008 rates until after they have completed their program, or until 2012, whichever is the earlier.

For Commonwealth supported students commencing from 2008, the maximum student contribution for courses (subjects) in accounting, administration, economics and commerce is based on student contribution Band 3 ($9,425 for 2012).

However, if you are considered a 'pre-2008' Commonwealth supported student, your student contribution for these courses is based on the lower Band 2 ($8,050 for 2012). (Note that these transitional arrangements will only remain in place until the end of 2012).
