How do I pay the SSAF?

Up-front Payment
Your online invoices are available from mid-January (for the first half of the year) or mid-June (for the second half of the year) via your ‘Financial’ link on mySI-net.

Wait 24 hours after you first enrol or after you change your enrolment (e.g. from part-time to full-time) for your updated online invoice to appear.

To pay the SSAF up-front click on ‘Pay my fees now’ via your ‘Financial’ link.

SA-HELP Loan
Australian citizens and permanent humanitarian visa holders resident in Australia can obtain a SA-HELP loan and defer repayment of the SSAF through the tax system.

To apply, submit the Request for SA-HELP Assistance form via the ‘Financial’ link on mySI-net on or before the relevant fees due date. You only need to apply once for your program.

Prior to the SA-HELP payment date, if you change your mind and wish to pay the SSAF up-front, click on ‘Remove SA-HELP Request’ under the ‘Financial’ link. The following day, your updated invoice showing the SSAF amount due will be available via the ‘Invoice’ link. The up-front SSAF must be paid by the fees due date or, if you removed the SA-HELP request after the fees due date, within two business days.

*Your SA-HELP debt is incurred immediately after the SA-HELP payment date for an enrolment period. The SA-HELP debt cannot be removed after it is incurred.

If not supplied to UQ previously, you must provide your Tax File Number (TFN) on the form, or provide your UQ Student Centre with a Certificate of application for a TFN from the Tax Office, on or before the relevant fees due date.

IMPORTANT: If you do not have a TFN or have lost it, you should immediately visit www.ato.gov.au (see ‘Get a Tax File Number’) and apply for a TFN as a matter of urgency. You must provide a TFN to be eligible for SA-HELP.

SA-HELP Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN)
Within 28 days of the SA-HELP payment date for each enrolment period you will receive an email to your UQ student email address alerting you to the availability of your SA-HELP Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN) via your mySI-net home page.

The CAN will set out the amount of SSAF incurred, the day the fee was payable and the amount of the SA-HELP loan for that period.

You have 14 days from the date of the CAN to advise the University of any errors regarding your SA-HELP loan.
