Academic advising
The Faculty has a team of student advisors who provide specialist advice to students on a wide range of matters. In the first instance you should approach a Faculty student advisor at the UQ Gatton Student Centre in the NW Briton Annexe [See map] or at the Faculty Office, Room C5A, Level 1, the Seddon Building [See map] at St Lucia. Appointments can be made, thereby ensuring the student advisor has retrieved information specific to your enrolment, or email contact can be made. Some matters for which advice may be sought include; program progression, cross-institutional study, credit applications, program changes, interruption to studies (temporary leave of absence), re-enrolment, program ‘milestone’ requirements/completion. For more specific advice, relating to academic content/curriculum, you may be referred to a program coordinator in one of the Faculty's four schools.
Enquiries can be emailed to nravs.enquiries@uqg.uq.edu.au.
Some useful websites to consult, before meeting with/contacting a student advisor, are:
The Faculty of NRAVS offer a wide range of dual degree programs. Recommended program plans are available online.
Distance education
Quite a number of the courses offered through Faculty programs are available by distance education allowing you to study via external or remote mode. Courses offered in this way are subject to change.
Electives
If you are enrolled in a diploma program administered by the Faculty, you will require Faculty approval to take elective courses outside of the prescribed diploma program.
If you are enrolled in a bachelor program you can take two courses, or #4, of electives outside of the prescribed program lists (with the exception of the BVSc). Students must gain prior approval from the Faculty to undertake elective study outside of the lists beyond the #4.
Supplementary examinations
Supplementary examinations are available to students enrolled in programs administered by the Faculty of Natural Resources, Agriculture and Veterinary Science only where a student is eligible under the ‘completion of degree' provision of General Award Rule 1A.13. (except for BVetSc) You will find a link to the General Award Rule on the University Rules page. Once you have accessed that page, scroll down to Part 1A - Assessment.
To apply for a supplementary examination you need to complete a form, available in print from any student centre, the Faculty Office, or online.
Graduation requirements
To be eligible to graduate, you need to make sure that you have met all of the program requirements and submitted necessary information to the Faculty. For example: some programs in the Faculty require completion of a First Aid Certificate; from 2006, many programs require students to undertake and complete 30 days of Industry Practice Work (students commencing in or after 2006). If you complete approved study at another institution, you must submit a certified copy of your final results so that you can be granted credit for the study.
You must submit evidence of having met requirements two months prior to end-of-year examinations or semester in which you are completing your program.
