New faculties 2014 - frequently asked questions

From 1 January 2014, The University of Queensland is making some changes to its faculty structure. Most of you will notice little difference, as there will be no immediate changes to schools.

We are establishing three new faculties:

The new faculties will replace the current faculties of Arts, Health Sciences and Social and Behavioural Sciences.

If your current study program is in these faculties, it will simply come under the management of one of the new faculties.

There will be no changes to program rules or costs of your study program as a result of the new faculties.

We expect the changes to deliver:

  • A stronger UQ reputation, giving you a more prestigious degree and better career opportunities
  • More robust collaboration and strength in UQ research, through bringing together common disciplines
  • Advances in research thinking will feed into teaching

To view a summary of which schools, centres and institutes are in each new faculty, click on one of the links below:

Please note there will be no change to UQ’s:

UQ’s Faculty of Science remains the same EXCEPT for the movement of the School of Biomedical Sciences to the new Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
