The grounds on which the applications are based will be ruled acceptable or unacceptable in accordance with current policy as set down in the Handbook of University Policies and Procedures, Policy No. 3.30.1, section 4.8.8 which states as follows :
4.8.8 Granting of Special Examinations
For the purposes of the General Award Rules, students are given special examinations for medical or compassionate reasons. Special examinations are also generally granted –
- for a sporting or cultural commitment at state, national or international level (refer to HUPP 3.40.15 – Programs and Assessment for Elite Athletes)
- for serious personal or emotional trauma
- in very exceptional circumstances, for example, an important planned family or social commitment or unavoidable work commitment
- holiday arrangements, including overseas travel
- misreading an examination timetable
- social and leisure events, including sporting and cultural commitments other than at state, national or international representative level
