Overseas trained professionals who have an assessment statement, specifying the course(s) they are required to complete for entry into a profession in Australia are considered to be taking bridging study for overseas trained professionals (BOTP). They are eligible to defer the tuition fee costs through FEE-HELP if they are:
- Australian citizens,
- holders of an Australian Humanitarian visa or
- an Australian Permanent visa holder.
International students undertaking BOTP course(s) are not eligible for FEE-HELP.
The same conditions apply to BOTP students accessing FEE-HELP as students who defer their postgraduate coursework tuition fees, although they are limited to a study load of 1 EFTSL (16 units) if they want to access FEE-HELP.
The assessment statement specifying the required courses must be issued by the assessing body for a listed professional occupation. Refer to the Commonwealth Government FEE-HELP booklet (PDF).
If you are eligible and want to defer your BOTP tuition fees, you should email Student Fees at fees@uq.edu.au to obtain a paper FEE-HELP Assistance form. Online FEE-HELP forms are not available for BOTP students.
