Student ID card
You must take your UQ student ID card to every examination. The student ID card must be displayed throughout the examination. Please see the Student ID card section of the Examinations page for the consequences of failing to present your UQ student ID card on entry into an examination room.

Bags, laptop computers and other personal belongings
The University strongly recommends you bring only required materials to the examination. You should not bring bags, handbags, briefcases, laptop computers, etc. with you to the examination. You will be directed to leave these items outside the examination venue.

You will be permitted to bring your wallet into the room, provided it is placed on the floor under your chair for the duration of the examination.

Mobile Telephones
Students may not have mobile telephones on their person during an examination.

Use of written/electronic aids in examinations
No unauthorised material can be taken into an examination room. Penalties may be imposed even if materials capable of conveying information are later found to have been innocently brought into the room.

Students should be familiar with Section 4.8.5 of the University's Assessment policy on what electronic aids can and cannot be taken into an examination.

Dictionaries in examinations
No unauthorised dictionaries can be taken into an examination room. Please refer to Section 4.8.6 of the University's Assesment policy for details of the circumstances under which dictionaries may be allowed in the examination room.

Under no circumstances will electronic dictionaries be permitted.

Pages of data, formulae, text etc.

• Wherever course co-ordinators authorise use (other than open book) of additional reference material, often in the form of an A4-sized sheet of notes etc., they are required to specify how much material should reasonably be contained on the page.
   
• Use of photocopied text etc at greatly reduced magnification will be discouraged and may be prohibited.
   
• Where such material is permitted, the page(s) will be collected from students at the end of the examination and sent to the co-ordinator for scrutiny.
