 Your HECS-HELP payment options

More Information
HECS-HELP Loan
Up front payment (Student contribution)
Tax File Number (TFN)

Commonwealth Supported students must complete and submit a 'Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP' form and choose their payment option.  The form is available online via the 'Financial' link on your home page in mySI-net.

If you subsequently change your program or wish to change your payment option, you must complete a new form before the relevant census date.

Even if you select the up front payment option, it is strongly recommended you provide your TFN, as it will save your enrolment from being cancelled if you forget to pay or you cannot pay.

Should you forget to pay or you cannot pay, and you have not provided your TFN, under Commonwealth Government legislation your enrolment must be cancelled. Provision of your TFN prevents your enrolment being cancelled by changing your payment option to a HECS-HELP loan for that semester. You can change back to paying up-front the next semester if you wish by submitting a new HECS-HELP form on mySI-net.

If you are an Australian citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident with a Humanitarian visa and you pay up-front, you receive a 10% discount.

If you choose to obtain a HECS-HELP loan, you can make a partial up-front payment of $500 or more to the University by the relevant census date to receive a 10% discount on the payment amount. Note that students who are New Zealand citizens or Australian Permanent Residents without a Humanitarian visa are not eligible for a HECS-HELP loan, but must pay up-front without a discount.
