Australian citizens or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa are eligible for a HECS-HELP loan, and are entitled to a 20% discount if they choose to pay their student contribution amounts up front.
New Zealand citizens or holders of a permanent non-humanitarian visa are considered domestic students and can apply for a Commonwealth supported place at UQ. Note that they are not eligible for a HECS-HELP loan, but must pay their student contribution amounts up front without the 20% discount.
All Commonwealth supported students are required to submit a Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form. For University of Queensland students, the form is available online via your home page on mySI-net. You must supply your Tax File Number if you wish to take out a HECS-HELP loan.
