After commencing your current program at UQ, you may wish to change to another program, or consider studying a dual degree by adding a program. However, you will need to ensure you meet the entry requirements including the entry rank and prerequisites for entry into the new program. The procedures for changing programs depend on a number of factors and are different for changes in semester 1 or 2.
Please see the detailed information below and contact UQ Admissions if you need further information or clarification.

- Changing from a single program to another single program
Changes from one single program to another single program can only be made by applying for entry to the new program through QTAC as outlined in the 'Apply through QTAC' section below.
However, students who were enrolled in the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Biotechnology in 2007 or earlier, when they had a shared QTAC code, may apply internally to change between these programs. If you are in any doubt about the procedures to follow, please contact UQ Admissions for advice.
Please note that, if you have previously been enrolled in the program you wish to change to, contact your faculty, (or school in the case of the Faculty of Health Sciences) where staff will advise you if you have retained your place in the program. If you have retained your place in the program, faculty or school staff will reactivate this program, but if you have lost your place in the program, they will advise you to apply through QTAC.

- Changing from a single program to a dual program
All dual degree programs offered at UQ have a separate QTAC code, with the exception of Bachelor of Agribusiness/Bachelor of Applied Science (St Lucia majors). For this dual program you need to apply for the specific Applied Science St Lucia major through QTAC (e.g. Bachelor of Applied Science (Food Science and Nutrition)) and on receiving an offer for that single program, request to change to the dual program when you enrol (using mySI-net). Your request will be assessed to check if you satisfy the entry requirements including the subject pre-requisites and minimum required entry score for the second component of the dual degree and if you do, you will be able to enrol in the dual program.
The QTAC code of the program you have to nominate on your QTAC application when seeking admission to a specified dual degree program is available from the Courses and Programs website, the QTAC website and the QTAC Guide.
For example, if you wish to enrol in the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws program, this has a specific QTAC code, 707401, whereas if you wish to enrol in a Bachelor of Agribusiness/Bachelor of Applied Science (Food Science and Nutrition) program, you will need to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Applied Science (Food Science and Nutrition) (QTAC code 703031 ).The correct procedure depends on the single program you currently have a place in and the second degree you are seeking to combine with it to form a dual degree and whether the dual degree is offered through QTAC with a separate QTAC code.
Please see the information in this table (Excel: 110KB) to determine which of the following actions you need to take in order to apply for and enrol in a specific dual degree:
- Lodge an internal program change request using mySI-net:
- On the menu bar at the left of your mySI-net homepage, click on 'program', then 'program change request'. Follow the prompts on the next page
- You can request a program change on mySI-net after the release of exam results each semester until the Friday before the start of Orientation Week. .
Your request will be assessed to check if you meet the entry requirements including the pre-requisites and entry Rank
- On the menu bar at the left of your mySI-net homepage, click on 'program', then 'program change request'. Follow the prompts on the next page
- Apply through QTAC
Please check the QTAC guide available through newsagents or the QTAC website for information on application procedures and due dates.
- Lodge an internal program change request using mySI-net:
- Changing from a dual program to a single program
- If you have just received your offer for a dual degree through QTAC but wish to do one of the component single programs from that dual degree, you can lodge an internal program change request through mySI-net as outlined above.
- If you have been enrolled in your current program for at least one semester and wish to enrol in one of the component single programs from that dual degree, you can submit an internal program change request via mySI-net as outlined above. However, if you have not passed at least one course from the single program you wish to change to, you will need to apply through QTAC for a place in that program, as outlined above.
- If you wish to change to a single program that is not one of the components of your dual degree, apply through QTAC as outlined above.
- If you have just received your offer for a dual degree through QTAC but wish to do one of the component single programs from that dual degree, you can lodge an internal program change request through mySI-net as outlined above.
- Changing from a dual program to another dual program
This can be quite complicated, so it is recommended that you contact UQ Admissions for advice in this situation. When changing from one dual to another internally, you must have enrolled in and retained a place in the correct component of the dual program you are adding.
Procedures for changing your program for Semester 2 entry
Students enrolled in semester 1 may apply for a change to another undergraduate program in semester 2 using the Program Change request function in mySI-net as outlined above. Your request will be assessed to check whether you currently meet the pre-requisites and the entry rank required for entry to the program. The minimum entry rank required will be the cut off for the given program in semester 1. Additionally, your application will be assessed to determine whether you can commence the new program in semester 2. If you have not completed study in semester 1 of the year in which you wish to change programs, you will be required to apply through QTAC as outlined above.
