Some UQ programs and courses are offered to students via distance learning. Students sometimes enrol in a mixture of on-campus and external courses for added flexibility.
You can search for courses using the Course search facility on the Courses and programs website. The Course description will indicate whether the course is offered in external mode.
Courses offered by distance in the Faculty of Science are administered by the Distance Education Centre. You can contact this Unit by ringing the faculty toll-free telephone number 1800 807 214 or by email dec@uqg.uq.edu.au.
The Faculty of NRAVS has produced a learning support kit called Hang in there! for distance students. The kit targets undergraduate distance students studying at UQ's Gatton campus, but all distance students (undergraduate and postgraduate coursework) will find most of the kit very useful.
The due dates, policies and procedures remain the same for distance learning students as for on-campus students.
For the due dates, please see the Important dates page on the Starting at UQ website. For a full listing of all official university dates relating to students, please refer to the Academic calendar.
The bulk of material provided to distance-learning students is print-based, utilizing the Blackboard ® e-Learning system, with some material available on CD-ROM, DVD and video.
Please note:
All students studying off-campus from St Lucia are required to complete the External students' examination entry form (PDF) and return it to the External Examinations Officer, University of Queensland, St Lucia, Qld 4072. The due date is 30 April in first semester and 30 September in second semester. The form may be faxed to (07) 3365 4415 from within Australia or to +61 7 3365 4415 from other countries.
